Rules
worldbid is a public map. There are no ads, no API keys, and no revenue share. You pay to hold a country. The bid is the rank — nothing else.
How holding a country works
- Bids are whole US dollars. An unclaimed country starts at $1.
- To take a claimed country you must bid at least $1 more than the current holder's bid. The moment your payment is captured, the country is yours and the previous holder is off it.
- Enter the same website or @handle again to raise your own bid on a country you already hold. The new bid must be at least $1 higher; you only pay the difference. Nobody else can take your country by paying that difference.
- Every country and territory on the map counts as one, whether it is Russia or Nauru. King of the world is whoever holds the most countries; ties go to the higher total bid, then to whoever got there first.
- Two people can race for the same country. Your card is only charged once your bid has won. If someone beats you while you are in checkout, the authorization is released and you are not charged.
- Previous bids are not refunded when you get outbid. That is the game.
- 🐾 25% of all net proceeds are donated to animal welfare organizations in Germany.
What you can list
- A product website, or an X @handle.
- Chat and invite links are not allowed — Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Messenger, Signal, and similar. The map is for products and profiles, not group chats.
- Links to sexual content are not allowed. If it is porn, NSFW, or an adult platform, it does not belong on the map.
- Query parameters are stripped from listing links. Affiliate, referral, and tracking URLs will not work.
- Link shortener URLs are not allowed. Submit the final URL.
- App Store, Play Store, GitHub, and similar platform links are keyed by their path, so different apps don't share a bid.
After you pay
- Your listing is public. Clicks on your country go to the URL or profile you submitted, with
utm_source=worldbidadded so you can see the traffic. - Your favicon (for websites) or profile picture (for X handles) is shown on the map. If it can't be loaded, your initial is shown instead.
- Listings that break these rules are removed without refund, and the bidder is banned from the map.
- A completed payment is what claims the country. Everything else is just a button.
