About
worldbid is a map of the world where every country is for sale — not for real, but for the board. Pay more than the current holder and the country is yours: your favicon or profile picture sits on it, and every click on it goes to your link. Hold more countries than anyone else and you are king of the world.
No ads, no API keys, no revenue share. Nothing to sign up for. Whoever bids more wins, and that is the whole product.
Why
Because a single leaderboard only has one #1, and 248 countries have 248 of them. Some are expensive, some are a one-dollar flag on a tiny island — but they all count the same towards the crown.

Every bid helps animals
25% of all net proceeds of worldbid are donated to animal welfare organizations in Germany — Tierheime and Tierschutzvereine. Net means what's left after payment fees and taxes. The running total is shown on the map page and here, updated live.
How it works, in short
- Unclaimed countries start at $1. Taking a claimed country costs at least $1 more than the holder paid.
- Enter the same website or @handle on any country and it counts for the same bidder. Raising your own bid only costs the difference.
- Your card is only charged once your bid has actually won. If someone beats you while you are paying, the authorization is released and nothing is charged.
